The ascension team of the Americas League have made it through their first day of Masters Shanghai with an impressive 2-1 victory over T1 who showed signs of dominance despite losing the game in the end.

The game went to the third map, Lotus, after G2 taking Breeze 13-8 and then T1 absolutely dominating Icebox 13-1 with their strange Reyna/Chamber comp. This comp took APAC by storm and then Team Liquid from EMEA took it up and took down FNATIC on it.

The Chamber made a re-appearance in the final map, Lotus where the CSGO Legend, Xcurrate, took out the AWP that he is so well-known for. Unfortunately they lost that map and G2 came out on top taking the series 2-1.

This game also had some history, with Sayaplayer of T1 returning to face his old ‘The Guard‘ teammates on the G2 core with some tension held within the server, all in good mind hopefully.

With the new swiss system, G2 go onto the 1-0 bracket to face off against another team that will go on to be 1-0 in their opening games, and then T1 will go onto face a team that will go 0-1. It is not the end of the road for T1 but it is also not a guaranteed pass into the play-offs.

The statistics for Masters Shanghai will be less in depth due to China’s regulations, however, as shown above, G2 leaf topped the scoreboard in the opening day of Masters with an incredible 59 frags across the three maps on the Sentinel role.

He went 28/11 on the opening map, Breeze whilst going 23/19 in the final map to close out the series and give G2 the lead in the Masters Shanghai Swiss-stage.

The next game is played today with FUT Esports taking on FPX who have the home advantage and will look towards which team they could possibly face in the second round.
