After a shocking start to the 2024 VCT Season, NRG have dropped Marved and Benched Demon1 from their starting lineup and brought back the reliable duo, FNS and s0m.
NRG released FNS and s0m from their roster after the 2023 VCT season despite s0m being the highest KDA performer on the roster and FNS being the star IGL of the team. They replaced them with Demon1 and Ethan from the Evil Geniuses roster that won champions which seemed like an upgrade to many fans.
However, they went from making every international event to making 0 and making a mockery of a 5 World Champions roster. It has been a shock to fans seeing their performance and the management at NRG seem to think that the IGL and role issues seem to be the problem.
Demon1 went from being the MVP of Champions 2023 and is now sat on the bench of the NRG roster. The fate of international MVP’s seems to be in full force this year with 2 other very notable players inactive at the moment.
The 2022 VCT Masters Reykjavík MVP, ‘yay’ is now on the bench of the BLEED Esports roster.
The 2022 VCT Champions Istanbul MVP, ‘pANcada’ has been put on reserve on Sentinels but is linked to LOUD.
And now the 2023 VCT Champions LA MVP, ‘Demon1’ has been benched by NRG after a disappointing start to the year.
The lineup remains with the two duos of Crashies and Victor with FNS and s0m whilst Ethan stays on the roster but gives over the IGL role back to FNS.
The lineup and expected roles are now-
- Sam ‘s0m’ Oh – Controller
- Pujan ‘FNS’ Mehta – IGL/ Sentinel
- Ethan ‘Ethan’ Arnold – Initator
- Austin ‘Crashies’ Roberts – Initator
- Victor ‘Victor’ Wong – Duelist
This isnt confirmed yet with the only quesiton being who would take the duelist role between s0m and Victor, however, judging off of s0m’s ranked games, he has been playing alot of controller including Viper, Omen and Brimstone, preparing for VCT.
Their first game of Split 2 is against the Masters Madrid winners, Sentinels on the 23rd of June which could set the pace for both teams.
