After a 4 year rivalry, G2 finally take home a trophy against their VALORANT rivals, Sentinels in a nail-biting 3-2 victory in a close fought battle for the number 1 VCT Americas team.

After both securing a spot in VCT Masters Bangkok, all eyes were one the two representatives from Americas who were battling it out for the number 1 seed and bragging rights in this five map series to decide it all.

Coming into the season, G2 were heavy favourites to be one of the best teams in the world, not just Americas, so Sentinels had a ton of pressure to come up against, whilst also being one of the teams that fans knew would be a powerhouse team to face in VCT this year.

G2’s trent took the top spot in the leaderboard dropping 80 kills across the five maps, whilst both Duelists who are known for their fragging potential got shut down by both respective teams meaning that it was up to their team mates to carry along their fragging power.

The Yoru pick has become more and more popular within the best teams across VCT this year, after getting nearly 0 use last year with only TenZ, Marteen and Derke picking up the agent.

The aggressive play style of Yoru can work perfectly alongside a lot of the top Duelists in VCT, this includes VCT Champions winner Jawgemo and VCT Masters Madrid Winner+MVP, Zekken.

Despite starting the series off strong, with a 13-4 first map win, Sentinels couldn’t manage to keep up that performance across the rest of the series and it ended up being decided on the final map, Haven, where G2 came out on top 13-10 in the end, giving G2 their first VCT trophy in history.

This win gives G2 bragging rights over their long term rivals, Sentinels whilst also giving them the number 1 seed from VCT Americas going into Masters Bangkok. They will face off against the number 2 seeds from across VCT.

Sentinels will lose this game knowing that they did the hard part, in securing their spot in Masters Bangkok, however, they are in as second seed meaning they will play one of the number 1 seeds across VCT.
