Despite always dominating the APAC region, Paper Rex have had a rough start to their 2025 VCT season with the new meta not being too friendly to them with teams also getting used to their chaotic playstyle.
They extend their loss streak to four games in a row during their Kick-Off and their Stage 1 matches. BOOM have surprised fans across VCT as they were gifted this spot in VCT after BLEED got removed from VCT Pacific due to internal reasons and Riot sanctions.
BOOM Esports became the first team to book their place in Play-offs for Stage 1, with their 3-0 record guaranteeing that no team can knock them out of play off contentions for the Alpha Group.

Famouz topped the scoreboard in this series with an impressive 69 frags across the three maps. The best on Paper Rex was Jinggg who has recently moved over to the controller role.
It was also the debut for their new player, PatMen, who picked up the initiator role for the team as Mindfreak took to the bench for this series, as their coach Aleks has announced that they are running with a 6 man roster at the moment.
One thing that fans noticed within this series is the serious role issues that seem to be plaguing them with not one player besides PatMen playing just one role for the entire series. With their Duelist player, f0rsakeN playing three different roles across the Fade, Neon and the Vyse.

Despite not winning Ascension, they ascended into VCT and took it by storm putting their names into Playoffs for Stage 1 with their chances of Toronto being a possibility not just a thought anymore.
With this win, they look towards DRX where they will be looking to improve their placement into play-offs with the top seed of Group Alpha they will have the best chance to make it to Toronto.
Paper Rex will need to win out to have a chance to make it to Playoffs hoping that the rest of the teams in Group Alpha will crumble under pressure and Paper Rex can regain their form that got them 2nd place at Champions 2023, 2nd place at Masters Copenhagen and 3rd place at Masters Tokyo. They will face off against DFM next week in Stage 1 of VCT Pacific.
