Despite being one of the favourites to win the entire tournament, G2 are off to a rocky start after being stunned by the Spanish organisation Team Heretics.

Coming off of the back of regional dominance, G2 looked strong with the addition of leaf back into the roster over BABYBAY. However, it seemed that they came up against their kryptonite in Team Heretics, who barely made it to Champions after bombing out of Stage 2 Play-Offs.

Team Heretics showed the fans of VALORANT that a small change can influence a game and change its trajectory massively despite being the clear underdogs in this game.

The small change for this series was MiniBoo having a strong prescence on the leader board. He is known for his dive duelist style where he throws his body at the opponent. What worked perfectly for them in this series was that he was still getting first kills and the entries for the team, opening up space and the site in most rounds collecting 16 first bloods across the two maps.

RieNs topped the leader board in this series with 41 frags following closely by MiniBoo and benjyfishy who had 40 and 39 kills respectively. They carried their momentum from Corrode, where they debuted a new composition, into Lotus with two new compositions and two new agents for Wo0t to play in the Viper and Chamber.

Team Heretics will take this form into their upper bracket series against the Masters Bangkok winners, T1. Meanwhile the Americas seed 1 will go into their series against Dragon Ranger Gaming with everything on the line, hoping that Demon1 doesn’t return to 2023 form in time for their series on the 22nd of September.
