Many fans have criticised the thought of a super team actually working out. MIBR pulled all the strings and put together the 2023 LEVIATAN roster with 2 significant upgrades in Verno and zekken. Their opening series looks like this will be a different story when it comes to superteams.
From the opening pistol, the difference in presence was obvious. MIBR played with the confidence of a roster built to dominate timelines, not survive them. Every mid-round decision carried intent. Every trade felt rehearsed, not reactive. This wasn’t five players hoping chemistry would show up on game day — this was a team that expects to win and plays accordingly.
ENVY came in disciplined, prepared, and hungry — but against a roster like MIBR, preparation only buys you time. Eventually, the talent and experience takes over.
What defines a super team isn’t just star power, which MIBR have in boat loads, it’s how stars enable each other. MIBR’s spacing was immaculate. Their utility layering turned fights into inevitabilities. When one player fell, another was already swinging with information, timing, and confidence. Relying on comfort picks for tex, Mazino and Aspas, they faced every angle with incredible confidence.
MIBR dictated the pace of the series with their veteran composure. They slowed rounds when needed, exploded when windows opened, and punished every half-second of ENVY indecision. The scoreboard told one story, but the server told another: ENVY were constantly reacting to MIBR while they were always one step ahead.
aspas, as usual, took the top of the scoreboard in this series on the Jett and the Waylay. Whilst zekken, who in previous years was the top frag across international events and domestic series, took to the bottom of the MIBR leaderboard on his new controller role.
As VCT Americas continues to heat up, this series sends a clear message to the rest of the league: MIBR isn’t still “figuring it out.” They’re done experimenting. The foundation is set. The confidence is real.
