Gentle Mates made a strong statement against FUT Esports, clean sweeping them 2–0 in their opening series of the VCT EMEA Kickoff. Calm, controlled, and methodical, the French org showed from the outset, that they were fully prepared for the pressure of the new season.
The first map set the tone for the series. FUT Esports attempted to dictate the pace with proactive plays and early-round aggression, but Gentle Mates consistently found answers. Minny’s defensive setups proved difficult to break down, and when rounds slowed into mid- and late-game scenarios, Gentle Mates’ coordination shone through. Smart utility usage from Champions Winner, starxo, and disciplined trading allowed them to pull ahead and close out the opener without letting FUT build sustained momentum.
Any hopes of a FUT comeback were quickly dampened on the second map. Gentle Mates looked increasingly confident, taking firm control of the tempo and punishing even the smallest mistakes taking their defence side 8-4. Their attacking rounds were particularly impressive, with clean site executions and well-timed lurks repeatedly pulling FUT out of position. Once in the lead, Gentle Mates showed no hesitation, maintaining pressure and steadily extending their advantage until the series was sealed at 13-6.

Rather than relying on standout individual moments, Gentle Mates’ strength came from their cohesion. Every round felt purposeful, with players supporting each other effectively and rarely leaving gaps for FUT to exploit. In contrast, FUT Esports struggled to regain control once the series slipped away, often finding themselves forced into hero plays late in rounds.
The 2–0 victory gives Gentle Mates an ideal start to their VCT EMEA campaign and positions them well heading deeper into VCT EMEA. For FUT Esports, the loss is an early reminder of the level of consistency required in EMEA especially since they are unchanged since last week, as they look to bounce back in their next match.
