After both Korean sides being upset early on in the tournament by FULL SENSE and Nongshim RedForce respectively, T1 and Gen.G met in the middle round 1 with both teams looking to redeem themselves in this mega series.

Map one took centre stage on Breeze, where both teams opted for the old school Double Duelist comps of Jett/ Yoru/ Sova/ Viper/ Astra, leaving the result in the hands of the players and ore specifically the IGL’s of the rosters. Gen.G took an early lead, ending the first half 7-5 in their favour after ending the half with three straight shut downs on their defence side. The second half, leant more into their favour again with T1 not able to halt Gen.G’s attacking half, ending the series 13-7 in their favour.

The second map took place on Bind, where Gen.G opted for a double dive duelist composition of Raze and Waylay, meanwhile on T1 they chose to have the iZu Yoru and BuZz on the Waylay, maintaining a balance of dive and control with their double duelist. The first half seemingly stormed away from Gen.G with T1 going up 6-1 on their defensive half. Gen.G managed to fight back and drag the half back to 7-5. However, it was all pointless in the end with T1 dominating their attack half with Meteors lurks paying dividends in their attack and controlling the map. The 2nd map ended 13-8, setting up a decider map of Haven.

Haven was the Meteor show, with him now onto the full-time sentinel role, T1 managed to activate the two time Masters Winner and allow him freedom on the final map. He dropped 21 kills on the Killjoy, opening the other sites, allowing for quick rotates and the eventual demise of Gen.G. The final map ended 13-9 for T1’s favour, confirming their spot as one of the best teams in Pacific this year once again.

With this win, T1 will go on to face off against DRX in the Middle Round 2 after both teams got knocked down there by respective teams. Gen.G however, will drop once again to the Lower Bracket to face off against VARREL where they will be fighting for survival and a chance to make Masters Santiago.
