Evil Geniuses’ star Duelist, dgzin, went above and beyond to defeat ENVY and end their Kick-Off run despite their last minute addition of Champions 2023 MVP, Demon1 to their roster.

Pearl was the destination for map 1, with Demon1 integrating into ENVY onto the controller role, running the Astra that he won Champions LA on. They opted for their usual Double Duelist compositions with Eggster on the perma-yoru and Keznit following suit on the Neon for Pearl.

The first map went the way of EG with a back-to-back map ending in OT with a 16-14 scoreline where bao and dgzin were carrying the Champs winning organisation to the final line with 30 and 28 kills respectively.

Map 2 on Corrode was the dgzin show, with him on the Yoru, the rotations on the defensive half were seamless and they were able to have bodies on the site that ENVY chose every time, allowing for a complete shutdown.

They got to the halftime at 8-4 with the Double Duelist not reaching their full potential until their attack half, where Okeanos and dgzin managed to take over and close out the map 13-5, taking the series 2-0 and confirming their survival for one more week.

After a rocky start to his time on EG, dgzin really showed why he was picked up and why he consistently gets chances in Tier 1 every year of VCT in this series. He dropped a +33 scoreline to defeat ENVY in a must win series.

EG will now go on to face off against 100 Thieves in yet another end-of-the-line series where both teams will be fighting for survival. ENVY will now look ahead to Stage 1, where Demon1 should be fully integrated to their roster and will hopefully back to his best.
