G2 Esports made a clear statement in VCT Americas, sweeping NRG 2–0 in a series that showcased their control and confidence from start to finish with their new look with Doube Dive Duelist comps on both maps. From the opening rounds, G2 set the tone with a pressurised, disciplined approach, rarely overextending and consistently punishing NRG’s mistakes.

Their ability to speed the game up and force NRG into uncomfortable situations proved decisive, as G2 steadily built momentum and never allowed the series to spiral out of their hands.

The opening map on Pearl, saw a new composition from G2, leaning into the Double Duelist wave, with BABYBAY on Yoru and JAWGEMO on Phoenix. This saw G2 establish dominance early, leaning on strong defensive structure and well-timed utility to shut down NRG’s attacking ideas, whilst taking space across the entire map limiting the rotates from the World Champions.

NRG struggled to find clean entries or sustained pressure, often being halted before executes could fully materialise. Even when rounds became scrappy, G2’s firepower and cut-throat clutches ensured they came out on top more often than not, allowing them to close the map with an incredible 13-3 scoreline.

NRG showed more fight on the second map, managing to keep the scoreline closer and contest key rounds, but G2’s composition once again changed up into another Double Duelist comp with Neon/ Waylay. This forced more mid-rounding and less coach impact, which was something that NRG Ethan was never comfortable with. In crucial moments, G2 consistently made the better decisions, winning clutches and converting advantages with calm execution. That late-round calling from G2 Valyn ultimately proved the difference, as G2 pulled away to secure the map and complete the clean sweep.

The 2–0 result underlined G2’s growing cohesion and confidence in the Americas league, while NRG were left searching for consistency as they regroup for the challenges ahead in their Lower Bracket run, looking to keep their Masters Santiago chances alive.
