NRG complete the impossible to overcome the newest ‘superteam’ in Americas, MIBR defeating their new roster 3-2 after going down 2-0 at the beginning of the final series of VCT Kick-Off.

NRG are headed back to the international stage, but not without surviving one of the most nerve-racking series of their season. In a five-map thriller against MIBR, NRG clawed their way back from a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2, punching their ticket to Masters Santiago and breaking Brazilian hearts in the process. What began as a composed, confident rebound showing from MIBR slowly transformed into a story of adaptation, resilience, and momentum swinging violently in the world Champions favour.

The series opened with MIBR in complete control. On the first two maps, the Brazilian side dictated tempo and space, consistently winning the opening duels and suffocating NRG’s attempts to establish mid control. NRG looked a step behind in rotations and struggled to convert man advantages, while MIBR’s executes were sharp and well-timed. By the end of map two, MIBR held a commanding 2-0 lead and appeared firmly on course to close the series in clinical fashion.

But elimination scenarios tend to sharpen focus, and NRG emerged on map three with renewed purpose. Defensive setups tightened, utility was layered with far more discipline, and their mid-round calls began to stretch MIBR’s defensive reads. Crucially, NRG started converting clutches—those tense late-round moments that had slipped through their fingers earlier. The third map shifted the emotional balance of the series; suddenly, MIBR’s clean structure looked slightly hesitant, and NRG’s confidence grew with every round secured.

By map four, the momentum had fully swung. NRG dictated engagements from the outset, challenging aggressively for early map control and forcing MIBR into reactive positions. Their defensive holds were airtight, and on attack they varied pace effectively. Mixing fast hits with patient defaults that drained MIBR’s utility. What had been a Brazilian masterclass in the opening maps turned into a North American showcase of composure and firepower, leveling the series at 2-2 and setting up a winner-take-all decider.

The final map encapsulated the entire match narrative. NRG struck early and refused to relinquish control, building an economic cushion that compounded MIBR’s pressure. Every attempted comeback round from MIBR was met with crisp trading and confident retakes. As the final rounds ticked away, it was clear which side believed more deeply in the reverse sweep. When the last kill landed, NRG’s players leapt from their seats—relief and triumph etched across their faces.

Despite aspas returning to his fragging peak dropping 82 kills in this series, topping the leaderboard once again, it just wasn’t enough to take the series into his own hands.

  • All Gamers (China 1st Seed)
  • BBL Esports (EMEA 1st Seed)
  • Nongshim RedForce (Pacific 1st Seed)
