After knocking out APAC favourites, Paper Rex, DetonatioN FocusMe become the next team to exit VCT Pacific Kick-Off with a 0-2 loss to GenG.
GenG, the kings of 2024 APAC, have made another step in the right direction after this win over DFM besting them in this series comfortably not allowing DFM to get more than 6 rounds on either map.
Coming off of the back of Upper bracket loss to DRX in a close 2-0 Overtime loss, GenG looked like a shell of their former selves despite working so hard last year they ended up losing three of their key players only keeping a hold of their Duelist player, t3xture, and their IGL, Munchkin.

A strong showing from GenG allowed all of their players to be witihin 5 kills of each other, with no hard carry this series. Just a great display of team work across the two maps.
After knocking out APAC favourites, Paper Rex, DFM were coming off of a high, and fans assumed that they could carry on this form and carry it through to GenG and possibly to Bangkok.
Unfortunately it wasn’t to be and it seemed that their tactics that allowed them to triumph over Paper Rex were a ‘one and done’ style of tactics to end Paper Rex’s chances of Masters Bangkok.

With this victory, GenG will advance into the Lowers Semi-Finals against TALON after their win over Nongshim RedForce today. They will fight for a place in the Lowers final where the winner of their bout will face off against the loser of T1 vs DRX in the Upper Semi-Finals.
This loss for DFM ends their Kick-Off journey here, after their upset victory over Paper Rex, they are one team to keep your eye on across the rest of the VCT APAC season.
