NRG continued their VCT Americas run with a confident statement win, sweeping 100 Thieves 2–0 in a series that highlighted their composure and control under pressure, despite their recent loss against MIBR. While the scoreline suggests a straightforward affair, the match itself was competitive throughout, with World Champions, NRG consistently proving sharper in the moments that mattered most.

The opening map set the tone for the series, with both teams trading rounds early as they settled into the matchup. 100 Thieves showed initiative with proactive plays and early aggression, but NRG were quick to adapt, slowing the pace and punishing overextensions. NRG managed to end the first half 7-5 after back to back rounds saw NRG take the slight lead going into the break. As the map progressed, NRG’s mid-round calling began to shine, allowing them to convert tight situations into round wins and gradually pull ahead. Their ability to close out late-round scenarios ultimately gave them the edge and secured the first map.

On the second map, 100 Thieves looked more composed and managed to keep the scoreline close through much of the first half, eventually ending it 6-6. However, NRG once again demonstrated their strength in structure and decision-making after the side switch. Cleaner executes, better util, and strong trading made it increasingly difficult for 100 Thieves to find footholds on attack. Whenever momentum threatened to swing, NRG shut the door with disciplined strategy and well-timed aggression.

Despite flashes of resilience from 100 Thieves, NRG maintained control down the stretch, denying comeback opportunities and closing out the map to complete the 2–0 sweep. The series was a statement to NRG’s consistency across both maps, as well as their ability to stay calm in high-pressure rounds and convert advantages efficiently, proving why they were World Champions in 2025.

With the win, NRG move forward in the middle bracket with momentum and confidence, having shown a well-rounded performance looking ahead to their series against the winner of G2 and Cloud9. For 100 Thieves, the loss serves as an early test, revealing areas to refine as they look to bounce back in upcoming matches in the Lower Round 3 where they will face off against the winner of ENVY vs Evil Geniuses.
