A game of survival, where the Chinese side fell to the American side in a devastating 2-0 series where G2 looked incredibly comfortable not allowing XLG more than 11 rounds in total across the two maps.
Map 1 took place on Abyss, where Xi Lai Gaming had a competitive first half on their defence side, managing to hold G2 at a 6-6 half, with their attack side still to come, it seemed as if their Double Duelist potential was to be unleashed.
Unfortunately for XLG fans, it was Valyn and leaf on their defence side that were the standouts. The newly buffed Harbour was debuted by G2 in this series, not allowing for any pre-planned strategy to deal with the Harbour, forcing the IGL of XLG, WsLeo, to think of a gameplan on the go, which ended with a 13-8 loss to the hands of the VCT Americas 2nd Seeded side.
The second map went to Haven, where G2’s Double Duelist, Chamber composition ran the first half, taking it 9-3 on their defence side. They took control of space across the map, forcing XLG to run into the hands of jawgemo that allowed him to collect 15 kills across the first half, averaging 1.6 kills per round.
The second half was comfortably closed out by G2 ending the series 2-0 with a 13-3 scoreline on Haven, highlighting the entire story of XLG at Masters Santiago, a disappointing showing from VCT China once again.

With this win, G2 will face off against Team Liquid or T1, with regional match-ups not allowed in the Swiss-Stage of Masters Santiago.
They will await the draw for the 1-1 teams to see who they will be fighting for the final 2 spots in Play-Offs against, with a Champions winning roster, the remnants of a Masters winning roster still alive in the Swiss Stage.
